What are my user name and password for Quicken?
Your vanguard.com user name is your user name. Your vanguard.com web password is your password.
What's the difference between 'Download all funds into a single Quicken account' and 'Download each fund into separate Quicken accounts'?
The following information applies only to Vanguard mutual fund accounts. All securities held in Vanguard Brokerage Services or employer plan accounts will download into a single Quicken account whether you choose Web Connect or Direct Connect.
Download all funds into a single Quicken account. This option groups accounts by Vanguard account number, so that a single Quicken account holds two or more Vanguard funds in aggregate (similar to the way a brokerage account operates). This is the most popular option with our users, as it allows them to group all their funds. This choice is available whether you download transaction information from within Quicken (Direct Connect) or through Vanguard.com (Web Connect).
Download each fund in separate Quicken accounts. This option treats each Vanguard mutual fund as a separate Quicken account. This choice is available only if you use Web Connect (by first logging in to Vanguard.com) to download to Quicken.
Will upgrading to a Vanguard Brokerage Account affect how my transactions import into Quicken? What if I open a new Vanguard Brokerage Account?
New accounts. If you‘re opening a new Vanguard Brokerage Account, there will be no changes to how your transactions import into Quicken.
Existing account with only a money market settlement fund. If you’re upgrading to a Vanguard Brokerage Account that only includes a money market settlement fund, all transactions after the date of the upgrade will be imported into Quicken under the fund’s new account number. All transactions prior to the date of the upgrade will be imported into Quicken under the old fund’s account number. And you’ll still be able to access your complete transaction history at vanguard.com.
Existing accounts with Vanguard mutual funds. If you either transferred your existing mutual funds into a new Vanguard Brokerage Account or upgraded to a Vanguard Brokerage Account, all transactions after the date of the upgrade will be imported into Quicken under your fund’s new account number(s). All transactions prior to the date of the upgrade will be imported into Quicken under your old fund’s old account number(s). And you’ll still be able to access your complete transaction history at vanguard.com.
Why doesn't my balance match what's shown on vanguard.com?
Three scenarios can cause the balance of your account to differ:
Incorrect cash balance. All Vanguard accounts will not carry a cash balance at all times. As soon as your investments funds are received, we immediately purchase mutual fund shares with your investment. Therefore, the cash balance of your account registers in Quicken should remain at zero between transactions. See your software's Help files for instructions.
Incorrect share balance. If the number of shares and price per share are correct, the ending market value of your accounts should match your Vanguard balance. If the number of shares is incorrect, download the latest transactions from your account. If you've just created a new account and downloaded for the first time, enter the account balance as of the day before the first transaction downloaded. If you've recently downloaded transactions and entered your starting balance, compare your account history in Quicken with the account history provided on vanguard.com to identify and correct any discrepancies. You can see your share balance in Quicken by clicking the Activities menu and then choosing Portfolio.
Incorrect share price. When you download your recent transactions from vanguard.com, we provide the value of the funds as of the day of the download. We do not update the share prices for funds that have no current holdings. If you do not download transactions for a specific fund, you may need to download the current share price for the fund through Quicken. See your software's Help files for instructions on downloading quotes for securities.
Note: Vanguard provides price information during a transaction download; however, Quicken may override our information with quotes it receives internally. Quicken downloads market data via S&P Comstock, through its relationship with Intuit. Vanguard cannot guarantee the accuracy of price information downloaded through Quicken.

What happens to my transaction data if I convert to Admiral™ Shares?
Because Vanguard treats the conversion as a nontaxable event, there will be no associated capital gains or losses.
If you choose to download the transactions, they'll automatically appear in the associated accounts, depending on how you track your Vanguard accounts in Quicken.
